Safe, affordable counselling. Online and face-to-face.

Offering a calm, compassionate space where you can feel safe to explore, heal, and find your way forward at your own pace.

Linzi Cauwood the old oak tree counselling, Somerset and Dorset

Hello and welcome – I am glad you are here.

I am a person-centred counsellor and trauma-informed practitioner, offering a calm, compassionate space where you can talk openly and honestly about whatever feels difficult right now.

You might be feeling anxious, lost, or uncertain about the way forward, perhaps you are living with the effects of grief, trauma, or difficult past experiences. Or maybe you are at a point in life where things feel confusing or uncertain and that something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to start.

Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it alone. Counselling offers time and space to pause, reflect, process and begin to reconnect with yourself – without judgement or pressure. Together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, at your own pace, helping you find greater understanding, self-compassion and a clearer sense of direction.

What is counselling?

Counselling provides a calm and supportive environment where you can talk openly, feel heard and make sense of life’s challenges and reconnect with what matters most to you.

The old oak tree counselling in Dorset and Somerset with Linzi Cauwood

As a person-centred and trauma-informed counsellor I recognise that we all carry experiences that shape how we see ourselves and the world. For some, this includes trauma – moments or periods of time that felt overwhelming, frightening, or unsafe. I work sensitively and with care and awareness of how past experiences might show up in the present, both emotionally and physically, helping you feel grounded and supported as we explore what you chose to bring.

I prioritise your sense of safety and choice at every step. You set the pace of work, and we will move gently in a way that feels manageable and respectful of where you are right now.  My approach is always collaborative and paced around your comfort and safety. Together we can begin to make sense of what has happened, find ways to regulate your emotions, and move towards healing and self-trust.

You will be listened to with care and respect, free from judgement or assumptions. My aim is to provide a consistent, trusting space where you can explore whatever feels difficult or unclear and begin to find your own way forward.

About Me

Hi, i’m Linzi. I believe deeply in the healing power of being truly heard and understood. My role isn’t to give advice or tell you what to do, but to be alongside you with empathy, warmth and respect for your unique story as you explore what feels important.

My approach is grounded in empathy, respect and collaboration. I believe that you are the expert of your own experiences and together we can gently uncover what you need to heal and grow.

I hold a Level 4 diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a BA (hons) degree in Social Policy. My training and experiences have given me a deep appreciation for how personal experiences and wider social and cultural factors can shape our emotional world and wellbeing.

I am based in the Somerset/Dorset area, an accredited member of the NCPS and fully insured.

What To Expect

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, either online or in person. You decide what to bring – there is no agenda or expectation.

Our time together is confidential and centred entirely on you. My aim is to offer a consistent, trusting and supportive relationship where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings freely, without judgement, and begin to make sense of who you are, reconnecting with your own strength and resilience.

As a trauma-informed practitioner, I take care to create a sense of safety and stability in our work together. Sometimes this includes building stability and safety before exploring painful memories or feelings. At other times it may mean focusing on the present, finding moments of calm, connection or strength as part of your healing journey. Sessions are guided by you at your pace.

Sessions are 50 mins and are charged at £55.

I am currently available for online sessions only due to upcoming relocation.

I offer a limited number of concessionary rates for those on benefits, low income or unemployed. Please contact me to discuss this further.

My working days and times are:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons (with limited availability early mornings and evenings).

I offer a free 20 minute initial call or online chat so you can ask questions and get a sense of whether I am the right counsellor for you.
